He was born on December 1, 1939 in Appomattox, Virginia son of the late Jesse Edward Ferguson and Lula Phelps Ferguson.
He attended Liberty University and Appomattox High School where he played baseball, basketball & football. During his life he had worked at Central Virginia Training Center and General Electric Corporation, prior to having a long career working with churches in Virginia, having served as the bus director with Bethel Baptist Church and Thomas Road Baptist church. He had also worked in Children's Muppet ministries & other bible teachings at Faith Baptist Church in Chesapeake, Temple Baptist Church in Madison Heights, and Bethel Baptist Church in Amherst as well as other churches throughout the state. He also was a phenomenal Director at Camp Bethel in Amherst, Virginia.
Carroll loved serving the Lord, loved his family, truly enjoyed life and made every day count. He made such a positive impact on so many people's lives and will be so sadly missed by his family and friends who loved him very much.
Carroll was married to his loving wife Sylvia Wiley Ferguson for 59 years and together, they had 4 children to whom he was a great father. They include, Tracy Ferguson Hansen, Jeffrey Carroll Ferguson and wife Beth, David Neal Ferguson and wife Brooke, and Miracle Annette York and husband Lincoln. Survivors also include, 7 grandchildren, Robert Hansen, Magen Reyes and husband Javier, Blake Ferguson, Heaven Hunter and husband Aaron, Emerald York, Liorah York and Collin Ferguson; 5 great grandchildren; McKenzie, Carter, Dani, Salters & Olivia; sisters, Maxine F. Sharp and Inez F. Carter; a brother, William C. Ferguson and wife Bee Bee; sister, Joann F. Beverly.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at Whitten Monelison Chapel with Pastor Carroll Martin, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Briarwood Memorial Gardens.
The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 pm on Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at Whitten Monelison Chapel.
