Born in Lynchburg, Dean was the son of the late John Dean Gibson and Gladys Mae Crawford Gibson. He is survived by his sisters Lisa Gibson and Carolyn Burgess (Paul) of Madison Heights, and one nephew Jacob Burgess of Minnesota.
Dean was employed at Westminster Canterbury Dining Services for 35 years. Westminster gave Dean a place to work, socialize, and a place of purpose. One co-worker described him best, Dean “leaves a legacy of kindness, laughter, dedication and a giving heart”.
A memorial service will be held at Whitten Monelison on Sunday, September 5, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. The family will receive friends following the service until 5:00. The memorial will honor both Dean and his mother, Gladys Gibson.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Meals on Wheels of Lynchburg.
