

He was born in New York on October 5, 1952, son of Elizabeth Neuberger Coleman and the late Joseph Coleman.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother James Coleman.
Survivors include his wife, Joni Yeatts Clutter Coleman; daughter, Hannah Morgan Coleman; two step-children, David Clutter and wife Juliet, Lindsay Neighbors and husband Justin; three brothers, Robert Coleman and wife Donna, Kenneth Coleman and wife Carol, Thomas Coleman and wife Pam; brother in law, Tim Yeatts; sister in law, Deborah Coleman; as well as six grandchildren; thirteen nieces and nephews; four great nieces and nephews.
Joe was a member of Union Christian Church and worked as an Occupational Therapist for the Central Virginia Training Center. He was a man of humility who had a loving heart and a sweet soul. He loved art, reading, and music having played the guitar and harmonica. He was a very gentle man who loved children just as they loved him and he really enjoyed learning new things. A man of God who knew Christ personally and as a friend.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm – 2:15 pm on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at Whitten Monelison Chapel, Madison Heights where a service will be held starting at 2:30 pm with Reverend Jim Freeman officiating. Burial will follow at Union Christian Church Cemetery.
