

Joseph Samuel Millner, age 79 of Madison Heights t departed this life and entered eternal rest with our heavenly father at UVA Medical Center on Friday, February 10, 2017. Joseph was born in Bedford County on December 15, 1937, son of the late Alfred Sidney Millner and Maggie Pearl Cash Millner.
His loving wife and best friend Edith F. Millner survive him and remember 61 glorious years of marriage. He is also survived by three Daughters, Elizabeth “Liz” Chapman and son-in-law Richard Chapman, Linda Stanley with son-in-law William “Leroy” Stanley, Jr., and Janet Tidwell with son-in-law Kenneth “Kenny” Tidwell; five grandchildren, Meredith Chapman, Samantha Rice, Geoffrey Cash, Rebecca Stanley, William “Leroy” Stanley III, and their spouses; six great grandchildren, Collin Cash, Nathan Rice, Chris Rice, Kaya Rice, Amber Phillips and Jacob Phillips whom he loved unconditionally. Survivors also include his dogs Daisy and Wendy, his cat Angel, as well as his deer he loved to look at.
Joseph was preceded by 11 brothers and sisters and survived by a sister Clara Ballard of Evington.
Joseph was a man who was adored by so many more that it’s hard to list them all. Loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, friend, and overall amazing man to bless this Earth. We will all miss him terribly and don’t say “Goodbye” but instead say “See you later” as we know we will see you again one day. We all love you!
Joseph was a skilled craftsman who worked at Lynchburg Foundry for 25 years and retired from Montague Betts. He was a member of Amazing Grace Ministries and anyone that knew him, knew he was a child of the king.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 12, 2017 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at Whitten Monelison Chapel where the funeral service will be held on Monday, February 13, 2017 at 1:00 pm with Pastor Bill Evans officiating. Interment will follow at Briarwood Memorial Park in Amherst.
