Judith Ruhland Simpson

Born August 20, 1943 in Lynchburg, she was the daughter of the late Ruth and Rupert Ruhland.

Judy retired from Hill’s Department Store and Taylor Ramsey.

She is survived by her life partner for the past 10 years, Earl Withers Thompson; mother-in-law, Viola Baugher; a son, Brian E. Simpson and wife Mary of Lynchburg; three daughters, Dina Simpson and her friend, Jerry of Bacova, Donna S. Stone and husband Ken of Altavista, and Roma S. Kershner and husband Kenny of Lynchburg; son-in-law, Kenneth Blanchard; a special stepdaughter, Andrea Lloyd; one sister, Betty Clements of Lynchburg; twelve grandchildren, Michael Simpson, Kenneth Blanchard, Jr., Brandi Blanchard, David Dominquez, Morgan Branham, Demi Dorn, Ashley Marie Davis, Kameron Stone, Elijah Lloyd, Jacob Lloyd, Maegan Lloyd and Kayleigh Lloyd; and one great grandson, Nathaniel Blanchard.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 from 6 to 7:30 pm at Whitten Monelison Chapel and at other times at her son’s residence, 1022 Wiggington Rd, Lynchburg.

A funeral service will be held at 1 pm on Thursday, July 3, 2014 at Whitten Monelison Chapel with Pastor Susan Campbell officiating. Interment will follow at Briarwood Memorial Park.
