Katherine "Kathy" Johns Murphy

She was born on June 8, 1963 in Lynchburg, the daughter of Roy and Ressie Johns.

Kathy was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and enjoyed taking long rides in the car to see wildlife, such as bears, and to eat with family.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Roy Johns Jr.

In addition to her parents, Roy and Ressie Johns and her husband, William Murphy, Kathy is survived by her son, Brian Drummond and wife, Traci; granddaughter, Rayna Drummond; brother, Jason Johns and wife, Belinda; sister, Elizabeth Martin and fiancé, Billy Martin; special niece who was like her daughter, Cheyenne Johns; childhood friend, Doug King; and numerous other family members and friends.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Paul and the Oncology Department at Lynchburg General Hospital for their care and support during Kathy’s illness.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at Whitten Monelison Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, December 31, 2015 at Whitten Monelison Chapel with Minister Cynthia Branham officiating. Interment will follow at St. Paul’s Episcopal Cemetery.
