Kathleen Flynn Lindsey, 72, of Madison Heights went to be with her Lord Thursday, September 24, 2020.

Kathy was born in Detroit, Michigan, April 28, 1948, to the late Francis Flynn and Mary Judith O’Brien Flynn. She was an avid reader of mystery novels, a dedicated member of Temple Baptist Church in Madison Heights for many years, and an accomplished public servant until her retirement. If, however, you asked Kathy what her biggest accomplishments were, she would say her family. Kathy was extraordinarily generous, encouraging and worried for others and their safety. She often said that worrying must be her love language because it is what she did best. The legacy of her love will live on in her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Leonard Flynn.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Kenneth Lindsey; two daughters, Rebecca Dunivan and husband Terry of Madison Heights and Sharon Hise and husband Johnny of Lynchburg; one brother, Dennis Flynn of Lynchburg; five grandchildren, Andrew Hise (Megan) of Goldsboro, NC, David Hise (Ashton) and Brandon Dunivan (Allyson) both of Lynchburg, Sarah Douglas (Luke) of Mesa, AZ and Joshua Dunivan (Jamie) of Ft. Campbell, KY; one great grandson, Ezra Hise and her fur baby Riley.

A memorial service celebrating her life will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at Temple Baptist Church with Pastor J.D. Surbaugh officiating.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2020 at Temple Baptist Church and at other times at the residence.

The family requests memorial contributions in her memory be made to Temple Baptist Church, 4465 S. Amherst Hwy., Madison Heights, VA 24572 or to the church her grandson pastors, New Hope Friend Church, 4451 US 70 E, Goldsboro, NC 27534.

Kathy and I started 8th grade together and became the best of friends~ I found some pictures taken when we were in high school together last week and thought about posting them for her to see....sorry I didn't!
She was a great friend back in the day...and on facebook. She will be missed.
Sympathy to her family.

Kenneth, Becky, Sharon, and family–
I am so, so sorry for your loss. Kathy was one of the kindest, most loving women I’ve ever know. She was truly beautiful on the inside and out. I always told her she was like a second grandma to me because of how dear she was to me and my family. I loved laughing with her and listening to her talk about her family– she was so proud of her daughters, each of her grandchildren, and little Ezra.
I’m praying for comfort and peace for all of you during this time. Kathy will be deeply missed, but her memories will be cherished and shared for so many years to come. I pray that each and every day will be a reminder of how much she loved you all.

Kenneth, Becky,Sharon and family I am going to miss my good friend. The one who taught me everything I know about being a deputy clerk. She was amazing, smart, and a great co- worker. I could always call on her whenever something came up that we weren’t sure how to get through it. She will always be in my thoughts. Especially our dream/joke about the white sofa. Rest In Peace My Friend. Love you, Raye

To Kathy's family, I was stunned when I saw Kathy's obituary this morning. I am so very sorry. She loved all of you so much, talked about each of you without ceasing. It is a sad day, but also a glorious day to be with the one who loves us unconditionally. As Vince and Patty says, go rest high on that mountain, your work here is done. I will miss you, Kathy.

I remember what a dear sweet person she was! My mom thought the world of her! Now they are celebrating together! What a special person she was! I remember her and my mom loved talking to each other and always laughing. She will be missed so much. She always thought of others. The kind words she sent me when I lost my brother and sister were comforting.
