Leonard Melvin Meador, 90, of Madison Heights, VA, passed away, Saturday, November 13, 2021 at his residence. He was the devoted husband of Martha McFadden Meador, for sixty-six years.

Born October 1, 1931 in Charleston, W. VA, he was the son of the late Leonard Madison Meador and Edith Gladwell Meador and was also preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Meador and Eugene Meador. Mr. Meador was a retired supervisor with the U.S. Department of Commerce and was a veteran of the Korean War. He attended Thomas Road Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Meador is survived by three daughters, Patricia M. Dickinson of Washougal, WA, Judith R. Underwood of Raleigh, NC, and Cassandra Z. Rierson and husband Mark of Bowie, MD; one son, Deron Lee Meador and wife Sherry of Friendsville, MD; a brother, Roger Meador of NJ; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

A funeral service to celebrate Mr. Meador’s life will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, November 18, 2021 at Whitten Monelison Chapel with Pastor Steve Esterline officiating. Interment with military honors by American Legion Post 36, Altavista, will follow at Amherst Cemetery.

The family will receive friends, at the funeral home, for one hour prior to the service, beginning at 12:00 p.m.
