Lillie G. Byers

Mrs. Byers, a lifelong resident of Virginia, served as a cafeteria employee at multiple schools in the Fairfax County School System for 45 years.

She was a charter member of Garfield Memorial Christian Church in McLean, VA, established in the 1950’s, where she served in various capacities as a Sunday School teacher, deaconess, and elder.

Survivors include her husband, Bernard “Eddie,” and six children, Leonard Byers of Manassas, VA; Edward Byers of Warrenton, VA; Carol Byers of Fredericksburg, VA; Shirley Trosko of Sacramento, CA; Lee Byers and Richard Byers, both of Meridian, MS; 9 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 1, 2011at Whitten Monelison Chapel in Madison Heights with the Rev. D. Jack Hamilton officiating. Interment will follow at El Bethel Cemetery in Allwood, VA.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home, for one hour prior to the service.
