

Lonnie was born on April 12, 1946, in Oronoco. He was preceded in death by his parents, Parrish William Tomlin and Hallie Elizabeth Staton Tomlin; a sister, Nannie Ramsey and her husband, Grover Ramsey; sisters, Florence, Sarah and Bertha Tomlin; brothers, Parrish Tomlin and Ward “Pud” Tomlin; and brother-in-law, Walter Taylor.
Lonnie is survived by his wife of 32 years, Sue Manuel Tomlin; his daughters, Samantha Williams of Harrisonburg and Leslie Williams of Jackson, TN; a brother, Walter R. Tomlin of Amherst; a sister, Robbie Taylor of Buena Vista; grandsons, Jayden Williams of Staunton and Treavan Williams of Harrisonburg; two great grandkids, Le’onidas and Myori; and many nieces and nephews that he loved so very much.
Lonnie honorably served in the U.S. Navy from 1965 to 1969, aboard the USS Neosho (AO-143) and USS Canisteo (AO-99). Lonnie loved his Navy buddies, Lyn, Gary, Bill, Bunky, Gandara and Rojecki. They maintained a close relationship over the years. They spoke often and he always enjoyed talking and visiting with them. Actually, they held an annual mini-reunion every September in Virginia Beach.
Notably, Lonnie dearly loved his family. He loved singing, working on old cars, his church family, old Westerns and wrestling. He loved spending time with his family, especially his brother Walter and the grandkids and great grandkids.
Lonnie was a member of the Mountain View Christian Fellowship. He loved the Lord and reading God’s Word. Lonnie retired from the Virginia Department of Transportation, serving for 22 years.

A memorial service celebrating Lonnie’s life and faith will be held on Sunday, June 8, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. at Whitten Monelison Chapel.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 2:00 p.m., at the funeral home.
