

Born June 10, 1926, in Madison Heights, she was a daughter of the late William Adam Wicker and Mary Stanley Wicker Dillard. She was also preceded in death by her step-father, James M. Dillard; three sisters Margaret W. Burliegh, Nellie W. Floyd, and Mary Isabell W. Caswell; and a brother, Stockton L. Wicker.
Mrs. Viar was retired from Wilco Garment Factory, after 20 years of service, as a seamstress. She was a member of Madison Heights Baptist Church, where until her recent move to Maryland, she regularly attended her weekly Sunday school class. She was a former member of Sandy Bottom Christian Church, and the Rebekah’s. She was an amazing cook, and caregiver.
She is also survived by two special nieces, Bessie Ann Viar Morris, of Easton, MD, and Angela Marie Potthast, of Trappe, MD, whom she raised as daughters. Also surviving are a great-niece and great-nephew, Kandise Viar Powell, of Lynchburg, and Kendall E. Viar, of Charlottesville, both of whom she thought of as grandchildren, numerous other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, relatives and many friends, whom she was blessed with.
The family will receive friends Thursday, October 27, 2011, from 7-8:30 p.m. at Whitten Monelison Chapel.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 28, 2011, at Madison Heights Baptist Church, by the Rev. Todd Blake. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to Talbot Hospice Foundation, where she spent her final weeks under their tender loving care, 586 Cynwood Dr. Easton, MD 21601.
