Madeline Brooks Tyree

Madeline Brooks Tyree, 97, went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Sunday, September 9, 2018. She was the wife of the late William (Dink) Tyree. Born on August 20, 1921 she was the eighth child born to the late Fannie and Anslen Brooks. She was a member of Sandy Bottom Christian Church. Madeline was a homemaker and spent many years babysitting children. In her younger years, she was active in the Garden Club. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Becky Cash Tyree; her brothers, Thomas Jeff Brooks and Andrew Brooks; her sisters, Nora Francis, Florence Jones, Unie Perdue, Carrie Almond, and Madie Wilson; and a brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Gordon and Dot Cunningham and Peyton and Juanita Tyree. She is survived by her two sons, Lynwood Tyree and his wife Nancy of Lynchburg and Donald Tyree of Madison Heights; three grandchildren, Jim Tyree and his wife Vickie, Jan Tyree and Michael Tyree and his wife Morgan; three great grandchildren, Matthew Routon, Nate Routon, and Daniel Tyree; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at Whitten Monelison Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at Whitten Monelison Chapel with, Pastor Gary Vernon officiating. Interment will follow at Meade Cemetery.
