Margie was born on July 4, 1938, to Linwood & Louise Wilson in Lynchburg, Virginia. She was the first baby born on July 4 that year and received a baby bed from the City of Lynchburg that she would use years later with her two beloved children, Stephen and Susan. After Margie graduated from E.C. Glass High School in 1956 she married the love of her life, Herman Mott Doss from Stapleton, Virginia on June 30 of that same year.
Herman and Margie would be inseparable over the next 67 years. In 1965 Margie and Herman were blessed with their first child, Stephen Mott Doss, and in 1967 they were both blessed again with the birth of their daughter, Susan Doss Quarles. Margie’s family was the center of her life.
Margie and Herman were later blessed over the years with four wonderful grandchildren, Collin Quarles, Evan Quarles, Alexandra Doss, and Grayson Doss. Margie and Herman kept the grandchildren often throughout their young lives and she fell in love all over again with these four. She would “light up” whenever she mentioned her family members by name or when they walked in a room to see her.
Margie and Herman loved driving through the country over their 67 years of marriage. Margie loved hiking and camping, and she passed on this love to her children and grandchildren. Margie never met a stranger and would strike up a conversation with anyone anywhere. If you talked to Margie at all, you were sure to come away knowing her husband, her children, her grandchildren, and her God. She often shared her love for Jesus with anyone she talked with.
Margie worked at Burlington Industries for many years where she made great lifelong friends. After leaving Burlington, she found the second love of her life, Walmart. She loved her twenty so years working there talking with and helping people.
Margie was a loving wife, loving mother, and loving friend. She was selfless in her service to her family over the years and is remembered as the rock of her family. Her smile would light up a room and it was infectious to others. If you ever were blessed enough to have the opportunity to speak with her, you know that smile.
Margie was predeceased in death by her Father, Linwood Wilson, and her Mother, Louise Wilson. She is survived by her husband, Herman Mott Doss, her son, Stephen Mott Doss, her daughter Susan Doss Quarles, her brother Linwood Wilson Jr., his wife, Susan Wilson, and their two children Margaret and David Wilson. The apple of her eyes were her surviving grandchildren, Collin Quarles, Evan Quarles, Alexandra Doss, and Grayson Doss.
