Marian June Almond

Born in Appomattox, June 24, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Jesse Evans and Myrtle Johnson Evans. She was retired from James A. Scott Insurance Company and was a long time member of Madison Heights Christian Church. Mrs. Almond earned her GED at the age of 80 years old. She was the first in line to graduate with the Amherst County High School class of 2008.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Dana K. Almond.

She is survived by one son, Michael “Ricky” Almond and his wife Joan of Madison Heights; one grandson Michael K. Almond, Jr. and his wife Jackie of Lynchburg; one granddaughter, Tammy Cyrus and her friend Jeremy; three great grandchildren, Jarrett Layne, Kristen Casey and Karli Jo Thacker and a number of nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 18, 2014 at Rocks Baptist Church Cemetery in Appomattox with the Rev. D. Jack Hamilton and the Rev. George Harris officiating.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at Whitten Monelison Chapel.
