Marjorie went home to the Lord and was reunited with her beloved husband and family. Born in Lynchburg, Virginia to the late John and Mamie Megginson, Margie was a proud graduate of E.C. Glass High School, Class of 1955.
Margie was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Wesley Trent; her brothers, Billy (Edith) and Kenneth; and her sister, Ann (Ronnie).
Margie loved her family, enjoyed going to the movies with her grandchildren, and had a gift to make everyone feel welcome. She loved to laugh and truly never met a stranger. A devoted member of First Baptist Church of Monroe, her faith in the Lord was the foundation of her life, and she shared His love with everyone she met. She was also a lifelong fan of the Washington Redskins and University of Virginia basketball—Wahoowa!
She is survived by her children, Valerie (David), John Wesley (Beverly), and Jeff (Janet); her grandchildren, Nicky, John (Angie), Ethan (Elisa), Jeffrey, Wesley, Lisa (Dan), Bruce (Amy), and Thomas (Bridget); seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and sisters-in-law Joyce Megginson, Peggy Stump, and Linda Crews.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff at The Summit for the exemplary care and compassion shown to Margie and her family over the last few months.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 15, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Whitten Monelison Chapel. A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, October 16, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at West Lynchburg Baptist Church, with interment to follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park.
Margie will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her love for her family, and the joy and kindness she brought to everyone, fortunate enough to know her.
