Mary Duval Tyree

Born on December 18, 1938, in Lynchburg, VA, she was the daughter of the late William B. Duval and Mable S. Duval. She was preceded in death by her beloved siblings, Bill Duval, Buck Duval, and Iola “Sis” Phillips.

Pat was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She dedicated 43 years of her life to teaching science in Amherst County Schools, where she inspired countless students with her love of learning. She enjoyed cooking, spending time with her family, and taking beach trips with loved ones. She also found joy in working on puzzles and watching hummingbirds. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of her life, and she cherished every moment with them.

She is survived by her four children: James D. Tyree Jr. (Kathy), Lisa Michelle Tyree Wood (Keith), Michael D. Tyree (Tara), and Jason Lee Tyree (Jennifer); eight grandchildren: Sydney Tyree, Tatom Tyree, Walker Tyree, Ryann Tyree, Reagan Tyree, Franklin Wood, Jalynn Tyree, and Jesse Tyree; six great-grandchildren; and many loving nieces and one nephew.

Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of Pat’s life on Friday, June 13, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at her home, 156 Eastview Drive, Madison Heights, VA 24572.

Pat will be remembered for her warmth, her love of family, and the simple joys she embraced throughout her life.
