

Maxwell, “Max”, as he was called by his family, was born on June 22, 1995, in Lynchburg to Richard C. Torode Jr. and Andrea L. Torode. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Bernice K. Layne.
In addition to his parents, Max is survived by a brother Samuel “Sam” Torode, and a sister, Marlayna “Marley” Torode. He is also survived by his grandparents, Douglas N. Layne of Monroe, and Richard C. Torode Sr. and Beverly H. Torode, of Lynchburg.
He also leaves behind three aunts, Lisa Beverly, Jessica Layne, and Nancy Speight; and one uncle Brian Torode.
He will also be missed by a host of other relatives and friends.
Max, who was born with health problems, always seemed to brighten the places he went. His parents were told, after multi-hospitalizations in different medical centers in the state by staff that cared for him, that they seemed to develop an instant attachment to him and felt blessed to have taken care of him.
Max showed his family how to truly love one another and for this they are forever grateful.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7-8:30 p.m. at Whitten Monelison Chapel and at other times at the residence.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., on Tuesday, June 14, 2011, at the First Baptist Church of Monroe, by the Rev. Glynn A. Coleman. Interment will follow in Briarwood Memorial Gardens.
