Mildred Maddox Sale

Mildred Maddox Sale, 83, of Amherst passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2015, at Fairmont Crossing. She was the wife of the late Willie Boy Sale. Born January 12, 1932, in Nelson County, she was the daughter of the late Donald E. Maddox and the late Georgianna Sprouse Maddox.

Mildred was homemaker and a member of Blue Ridge Baptist Church. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, sister and grandmother.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mildred was preceded in death by her two sons, William “Freddy” Boyd Sale and Dennis “Danny” Arnold Sale and his wife, Lynn Shrader Sale; son-in-law, Robert Charles Thomas, Jr.; and two sisters, Eveline Eggers and Christine Trent.

Mildred is survived by her daughter, Wanda Thomas of Midlothian, TX; daughter-in-law, Cindy Sale of Amherst; four brothers, Elbert Maddox, Johnny Maddox, Jimmy Maddox and Herbert Maddox; one sister, Florene Trent; six grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 27, 2015, at Whitten Monelison Chapel with the Rev. Alan Monfils officiating. Interment will follow at the Sardis United Methodist Church Cemetery (Tudor Hall).

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10-11 a.m., at Whitten Monelison Chapel and at other times at the residence of Cindy Sale.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 1022 Commerce St., Lynchburg, VA 24504.
