Born June 28, 1935 in Lynchburg, VA, he was the son of the late Thomas Calvin Bobbitt and Myrtle Bondurant Bobbitt. He was also preceded in death by his son, Ronald D. Bobbitt and his sister, Rachel B. Barringer.
Mr. Bobbitt is survived by his beloved wife and best friend, Hilda Marie; daughter, Rebekah Masseth and husband Frank; grandchildren, Lucas Bobbitt, Christopher Masseth (Kelly), Tonya Hatfield (John), Kevin Masseth (Liz), Jeff Masseth (Linda), and Jennifer McGowan (Bill) and six great grandchildren.
Mr. Bobbitt was retired from Lynchburg Foundry, after more than 40 years of service. He took great pride in his gardens and beautifying the home place.
Growing up on the family farm, he developed a love for animals, gardening, and all things outdoors. He was an avid fisherman and a charter member of Trout Unlimited. A Methodist by faith, all who fished with him knew his true sanctuary was on the trout streams, particularly Piney and Tye Rivers.
