Nellie Mae Witt, a cherished resident of Amherst, Virginia, passed away at the age of 90. She was a beloved sister, sister-in-law, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, cousin, and friend. Her life was one of dedication, love, and service to her family and community.
Nellie was preceded in death by her parents, William and Rosie Shrader, her husband, Harry Lambert, and her daughter, Sandra Guill. She was also preceded by her siblings, Helen, Hazel, Shan, Frank, and Henry, leaving behind her brother, Howard Shrader (Debbie) and sister-in-law, Fern Shrader to cherish her memory.
She leaves behind a legacy of love survived by her daughter, Delores Wilson and her husband Steve, her daughter, Edna Lou Morris (Donald), and her grandchildren Amanda Kawamura (Fiancé-Jeremy Brown), Donald Morris Jr. (Tina), and Crystal Morris White (Samuel). Her great-grandchildren, Jacob Kawamura, China Anne White, and Cameo Lou White, and her cousin, Betty Vanhoozier will continue to hold her memory dear.
Nellie Mae was a retired employee of CB Fleet, dedicating herself diligently to her work. She found solace and joy in the gatherings and events at her beloved churches, Gethsemane Baptist and Ebenezer Baptist, and was grateful for the guidance and support of her pastors, Carlton Duck and Dwayne Martin, and his wife, Sylvia Ann.
Her passion for family was evident in her love for spending time with them, and she cherished every moment together. Nellie was known for her hardworking nature and her love for outdoor activities, especially yard work.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Nellie's neighbors, Nadine and Ron Short, for their unwavering support and assistance whenever she needed it.
A visitation will be held at the Whitten Monelison Chapel in Madison Heights Virginia on Thursday, December 14, 2023. Visitation time will start at 11 am.
A graveside service will be held at the Fort Hill Memorial Park in Lynchburg Virginia on Thursday, December 14, 2023 at 3 pm.
Nellie Mae Witt will be remembered for her unwavering love, dedication, and the impact she made on the lives of those around her. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
