Patricia Jean “Jeannie” Johns, 64, of Monroe, passed away Tuesday, February 14 after a battle with cancer.
She was the wife of Percy Johns for 45 years.
Born on January 29, 1959 in Lakewood, NJ, she was the daughter of Ruth Virginia Martin of Monroe and the late Henry George Martin. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Charlie, Jeff, and Christopher Martin.
In addition to her husband, Jeannie is survived by a daughter, Samantha Savotti (John) and a grandson, Devin Jackson (Bedford). She is also survived by three sisters, Linda Martin of Monroe, Peggy Jones (Joey) of Portsmouth; two brothers, John Martin of Madison Heights and Scott Martin (Brenda), of Monroe, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. She is also survived by her mother-in-law, Bertie Branham and family.
While being a homemaker, she maintained a routine of making sure everything got done as she had planned before taking time to enjoy networking with new and old friends while playing her favorite online games. She enjoyed spending time with her family and was usually found in her favorite rocking chair whether inside or outside on the porch.
Keeping with Jeannie’s wishes, there will not be a service and her body is being donated for medical research to the Virginia State Anatomical Program.
Those wishing to make donations in honor of Jeannie’s memory, please consider making donations to an animal rescue/shelter of your choice as she loved animals, especially her beagles.
The family would like to thank the staff of Fairmont Crossing in Amherst for their compassionate care of our loved one.
