Obituary of Patsy Cyrus Taylor
On Friday, August 5, 2022, the Angels escorted Patsy Jean Cyrus Taylor, 75, to her eternal home in Heaven to celebrate a glorious reunion with precious friends and family members long passed in the presence of their Lord. She left peacefully surrounded by family. She was born in Lynchburg on December 27, 1946 at Virginia Baptist Hospital to the late Rev. Edward L. Cyrus and Mary Ellen Cyrus. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Richard Cyrus (Kay) and Jimmy Cyrus (Barbara). Patsy was married to her high school sweetheart, Everett R. Taylor for 55 happy and interesting years. She was the owner/operator of several re-sale shops and cleaning services. She was a lifelong Christian and founding member of her father’s church, Bible Baptist. She was active in all church functions and especially enjoyed the programs involving the youngsters. She was a teacher, pianist, church secretary and started the church daycare. She never met a stranger and would always see to the welfare of others. If they were in need, she would offer her help. In addition to her loving husband, she is survived by her three daughters, Angie Michelle Taylor, Alison Taylor Staton (Steve) and April Mackenzie Blankenship (Josh). She was always so proud of her granddaughters, Ashley Michelle Thompson (Scott), Stevie Marie Staton, Catherine “Nikki” Cook (John), Elizabeth Mackenzie Blankenship and Savannah Jean Blankenship. She is also survived by two brothers, Morris Cyrus (Jean) and Mike Cyrus; and one sister, Jane Francis (Gary). The family would like to extend a special thanks to her grand-daughters, Mackenzie and Stevie and all the wonderful in-home care providers, Promedica Hospice workers (Bryan, Collin, Melodie, Brenda, Donna, Lexi, Karen, Dee, and Penny), Peggy Bennett and Emily Cabell. At the request of Mr. Taylor, a special thank you to Courtnie at Whitten Monelison Chapel for all of her guidance and care during this difficult time. Services will be private and any inquires may be directed to the family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Patsy’s name to the Amherst Humane Society, 318 Shelter Lane, Amherst, VA 24521 or the Alzheimer’s Association, www.alz.org.
