Randal (Randy) Stuart Foster, 65, passed away on Monday, December 28, 2020 at his home in Madison Heights, Virginia following a courageous battle with Multiple System Atrophy. His final days were spent surrounded by family and friends.
Born January 2, 1955, Randy was the son of the late Robert Owen Foster and Christine Thornton Foster. In addition to his mother, Randy is survived by two sons Bryan S. Foster and his wife Lori of Greensboro, North Carolina, and Ben Foster of Madison Heights; two grandchildren, Addison and William Foster; and many other loving family members and friends.
Randy attended Amherst County High School and continued his education at the Virginia Military Institute, graduating in 1977.
For over 20 years, he was the owner and operator of H&H Food Market in Big Island. After selling the business, he was a real estate agent at Montague Miller in Amherst and later taught many students in Lynchburg and Amherst drivers’ education.
Randy loved people, entertaining, and traveling. He never missed a family gathering and looked forward to any opportunity to get together with friends. When his sons were growing up, he spent many years coaching baseball, soccer, and basketball, and enjoyed playing golf with Ben. Later in life, he always looked forward to going out to lunch with his Mother and Aunt as well as his weekly card game.
Randy had too many family and friends to mention but he loved each of them dearly. He was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the family wishes funeral services to be private. There will be a time for family and friends to pay respects at Whitten Monelison Chapel in Madison Heights on Friday, January 1, 2021, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
