Born September 11, 1950 in Lynchburg, he was the son of the late Richard Taylor Mays and Iarey Wheeler Mays and was also preceded in death by three brothers, Irvine, Vernon, and Elburn Mays. He was retired from Framatome / Areva and was the former owner & operator of the Shell Service Station in Madison Heights.
Ricky is survived by one sister, Essie McDaniel of Madison Heights; five children, Brad Mays and Jeff Mays, both of Madison Heights, Justin Mays, and Casey Mays, both of Lynchburg, and Brooke Griffin and husband James of Madison Heights and twelve grandchildren.
Per Ricky’s request, a graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, August 8, 2013 at Briarwood Memorial Gardens in Amherst County.
There will not be a scheduled visitation, but friends may visit at Whitten Monelison Chapel in Madison Heights.
