Robert Wayne New, born on December 22, 1946, to Lonnie Monroe New and Annie Johnson New, peacefully passed away into God’s hands after a long illness on February 21, 2024. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend.
Robert was the devoted husband of Adrea Stein New for an incredible 50 years. Together, they built a life filled with love and cherished moments. He is survived by his sons, Robert B New (Christie) and Robert Wayne New Jr. (Rae), along with 5 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and a circle of caring brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, and numerous good friends.
Born and raised in Lynchburg, Virginia, Robert found joy in the simple pleasures of life. His love for fishing and spending time by the river, surrounded by nature's beauty, was a testament to his appreciation for the world around him.
Robert dedicated his professional life as a medical tech at the Central Virginia Training Center, where he made a meaningful impact on the lives of those he served. His kindness and compassion were evident in every aspect of his work.
He was preceded in death by his brother, David Henry New, whose memory he carried with him throughout his life.
Friends and family are invited to join in celebrating Robert's life and sharing memories on Sunday, February 25, 2024, from 1 to 3 pm at 310 Woodland Ave., Lynchburg, Virginia. It will be a time to reflect on the beautiful moments shared with Robert and find solace in the memories he leaves behind.
