Born May 20, 1953, he was a son of Robert and Thelma Mays, who preceded him in death, along with brothers, Gene, Eddie, Larry, and Glen. Also preceding him were two sons, Scott in 1988 and Robbie, last year.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 42 years, Joyce; son, Cory; grandson, Johnathan and brother, Bill.
Roger was retired from B&W with 20 years of service as a machinist. He was a member of Rose Union Baptist Church in Piney River.
He enjoyed Nascar, but loved Virginia Tech, and watching sports and westerns on television. Roger loved to travel, including cruises to the Caribbean, Mexico, and Alaska. He loved road trips to different states, to absorb the beauty of God’s creations.
Family visitation will be Thursday, April 27, 2023 from 6-7:30 p.m. at Whitten Monelison Chapel.
Funeral service will be Friday, April 28, 2023 at 11:00 a.m., at the funeral home with The Revs. John P. Campbell, Jim Hardwick, and Jeffrey Campbell officiating.
