Ronald Thomas Burks

Born in Baltimore, MD, June 25, 1945, he was a son of the late Walter Hugh Burks and Frances Brizendine Burks. He was a retired store manager with Fisher Auto Parts. Ron was a car enthusiast and could fix anything. For many years was the owner/operator of Burks Garage in Big Island and served with the Big Island Volunteer Fire Department for over 24 years.

In addition to his parents, one sister, Mary Mundy Castle preceded him in death.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Christopher Kevin Burks and his fiancé Jennifer Powell Morris of Midlothian and Patrick Blake Burks of Hickory, NC; one sister, Beatrice Trump Fuller of Madison Heights; two brothers, Arthur Hugh Burks of Lynchburg and William Jeffery Burks and his wife Teri of Roanoke and five grandchildren, Joshua Dillon Burks, Kara Dyllan Burks, Trevor Michael Morris, Gavin Alexander Morris and Dylan Spencer Morris.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 28, 2012 at Whitten Monelison Chapel with Fr. James R. Hutchison officiating.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. Sunday, May 27, 2012 at the funeral home.
