

Born June 28, 1946, in Dothan, AL, he was a son of the late Rufus Clifton Kirkland, and Bessie Tyree Kirkland. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Robbie, Kenny Wayne, and Orin Kirkland. He is survived by 2 brothers, Curtis and Jesse Kirkland.
He was a working salesman all his adult life, having been employed at Flowers Bakery and Merita Bakery and Red’s Chips, as well as many other companies in the Lynchburg area. He never met a stranger and remembered everyone.
Survivors include his two sons, Jeff Kirkland and wife Christy and James Kirkland and wife Lisa, both of Lynchburg; two brothers, Jessie Kirkland and wife Leanne, and Curtis Kirkland, both of Madison Heights; four grandchildren, Katie, Cheianne, MacKenzie, and Lindsey Kirkland. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and many friends.
Roy had a long battle with Lung Disease but that never stopped him from supporting his grandchildren in every sport and driving hours to watch them play. He was the #1 Fan of all the Aftershock Fastpitch softball teams, loved watching them play.
The family will receive friends from 10-11:00 am on Friday, April 19, 2013, at Whitten Monelison Chapel.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 am, following the visitation at the funeral home, by the Rev. Gary Moore.
