Rubin Carl Hartless

Rubin Carl Hartless, 81, of Amherst, passed away on Thursday, May 26, 2022 at Fairmont Crossing. He was born on October 26, 1940 in Amherst and was the son of the late Eddie R. Hartless and Easter T. Hartless. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Ray Hartless, Roy L. Hartless and a sister, Linda H. Nuckols. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and after his service was completed, he worked for over 35 years at Babcock and Wilcox prior to retirement. He loved fishing, woodworking and spending time with his family and his cows. He was a member of Coolwell Presbyterian Church. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Thelma B. Hartless; son Lewis C. Hartless and his wife Kelly; grandchildren Abigail L. Hartless and Samuel L. Hartless; sister Nancy H. Whittaker and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service celebrating his life will be conducted on Tuesday, May 31, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. at Whitten Monelison Chapel with Pastor Tony Bennett officiating. Interment with military honors by American Legion Post 16 will follow at Briarwood Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
