Ruby Drumheller Carrico of Madison Heights, Virginia peacefully passed away on Monday, March 18, 2024. She was born May 26, 1922 in Schuyler, Virginia. She was the daughter of the late John Drumheller and the late Lillian Hall Drumheller. Ruby was the loving wife of the late William Walter “Tody” Carrico.
Ruby was the part owner of the Ye Olde Antique Shop in Madison Heights and a member of Amelon United Methodist Church. She retired from Kmart Corporation after 40 years of service. Ruby enjoyed the Amherst County Sheriff’s Department and her friends that visited the antique shop.
In addition to her husband and parents, Ruby was preceded in death by her sisters, Dolly Coleman, Frances Carroll, and 4 half-brothers and 1 half-sister.
Ruby is survived by two nephews, Johnny Carroll and Barry Carroll (Leigh Anne). She is also survived by a cousin, Mary Frances Cecil (Richard) of Spring Lake, North Carolina.
The family thanks numerous lifelong friends and Ruby’s caregivers, Jean Ware and Tammy Brooks, for their dedicated and loving care.
A visitation will be held for family and friends on Friday, March 22, 2024 at Amelon United Methodist Church in Madison Heights at 12 pm. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 1 pm. Ruby’s final resting place will be at Spring Hill Cemetery in Lynchburg. Pastor David Edinger will be officiating the service.
