Born in Big Island, June 9, 1931, he was the son of the late Walter Nichols and Mamie Fifer Nichols. He was retired from the City of Bedford where he served as the Hydro Plant manager. He proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. He was an avid Boston Red Sox fan and was a founding member of the Big Island Hunt club and Madison Heights Baptist Church. He also enjoyed his daily devotionals, woodworking and small engine repair. He loved nature and taking daily walks.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Linda Gail Childress Nichols; his daughter, Brandi Lynn Nichols and sister Christine Downey.
He is survived by two daughters, Karen Brooks (John Wegener) of Goode and Kim Fields (Gary) of Forest; one son, Jason Nichols (Sarah) of Amherst; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 1, 2022 in the Big Island Cemetery with the Rev. Ken Parish officiating. Military Honors by the American Legion Post 16.
Friends are welcome to pay their respects Monday, October 31st from 9 to 6 p.m. at Whitten Monelison Chapel.
