Born in Amelia, Virginia, he was the son of the late John Elmer Hall and Annie Goin Hall. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers and two sisters.
Tom is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Christine Mahanes Hall; three daughters, Wanda Stanley, Karen Mathews, and Glenda Luck; one son, Mark Hall and his wife, April; one sister, Rose Oney and her husband, Darrell; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Tom proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Following his military service, he began a successful career with Pennzoil, where he worked for 20 years and rose to the position of regional manager. His entrepreneurial spirit eventually brought him to Lynchburg, where he purchased a Pennzoil distributorship and established Hall Petroleum Products. Through hard work and dedication, he built and operated the business until his retirement in 2000.
An avid sports enthusiast, Tom enjoyed both playing and following sports. In his younger years, he spent many seasons playing travel softball and later developed a love for golf. He also took great pride in his home and yard. His carefully tended vegetable garden was an annual tradition, and his meticulously maintained lawn reflected his attention to detail and appreciation for the outdoors.
Tom will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor, his strong work ethic and, above all, his love for his family. He especially treasured the time spent with his brothers and grandchildren, and nothing brought him greater happiness than having his family together. Holiday gatherings were particularly special to him, providing opportunities to share laughter, stories and cherished family traditions. These moments, along with his quick wit and warm personality, will remain treasured memories for those who knew and loved him.
Tom was a member of Clifford Baptist Church, where his Christian faith was an important part of his life.
