Thomas Roscoe Mitchell

Born on November 21, 1963, in Martinsville, Virginia, Thomas was a man of many passions and an unwavering love for his family. He found joy in life’s simple pleasures—watching classic westerns like Wagon Train, spending hours constructing Lego creations, solving puzzles, and crafting his beloved chicken salad. A man of deep faith, Thomas cherished his time with his church family at Gethsemane Baptist Church, where his presence will be dearly missed.

Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, Rogers William Mitchell and Lorene Grogan Mitchell, and his brother, Keith Mitchell.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Joan H. Mitchell, his cherished niece Kayla, and a host of other loving family members.

A celebration of Thomas’s life will be held on Thursday, December 5, 2024, at Gethsemane Baptist Church, 411 Blue Ridge Street, Lynchburg, VA. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m., followed by the service at 12 p.m., with Pastor Carlton Duck officiating.

Graveside services will take place on Friday, December 6, 2024, at 1 p.m., at Mountain View Cemetery, 711 Church Street, Ridgeway, VA.

Thomas’s legacy of love, faith, and family will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
