Thurman Woodrow Campbell Sr.

Born August 23, 1931 in Amherst County, he was the son of the late James Robert and Estelle Johnson Campbell. Mr. Campbell was retired from Dodd Brothers Farm Supply and was a veteran of the Virginia National Guard. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.

Mr. Campbell is survived by five children, Marilyn C. Sale and Thurman W. Campbell, Jr. and wife Helen, all of Amherst, James Campbell and Gary Dale Campbell, both of Madison Heights, and Julia Gail Mays and husband Lewis of Gladys; a brother, John H. Campbell of Buena Vista; two sisters, Betty Jo Coffey of Buena Vista, and Dorothy Cash of Amherst; seventeen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Friday, February 20, 2015 at Whitten Monelison Chapel with the Rev. Doug Turner officiating. Interment will follow at Briarwood Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:00 p.m., Thursday, February 19, 2015 at Whitten Monelison Chapel and other times at the residence.
