Born on July 28,1944 in Amherst County, VA, she was a daughter of the late Harold Ivon Campbell and Virginia “Lucille” Campbell. Vera was a retired registered nurse with the Central Virginia Training Center for 23 years.
Vera earned her Bachelor's degree from University of Lynchburg (then Lynchburg College) in 1987. She had a wonderful sense of humor and a gift for making people laugh, and she could connect with anyone she met. Vera's greatest joy was her family. She loved bringing everyone together and took great pride in hosting large family gatherings, especially Fourth of July celebrations. Creative and talented with her hands, she was always working on a craft project or restoring old furniture, transforming worn pieces into something beautiful once again. Vera helped build her family home with her own two hands, and throughout the years she filled it with warmth, hospitality, and countless cherished memories for those she loved.
In addition to her parents, Vera is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Cecil Dawson Cash; two brothers, Hayward “Bud” Campbell and Sheckley Campbell; three sisters, Annie Cleola C. James (Ashton), Sandra C. Maddox and Betty C. Babish; one sister-in-law, Theresa Campbell; three brothers-in-law, Dick, Charlie and Herb; and one son-in-law, Howard Maddox.
She is survived by her loving family; her children, Cecil Dawson “CD” Cash (Pam) and Kathleen C. “Diane” Maddox; eight siblings, Harold “Joe” Campbell (LeJean), Ivon D. Campbell (Linda), Horatio “Ray” Campbell (Mary), Theodore “Ted” Campbell, Ina C. Waterman, Beatrice Campbell, Joyce C. Campbell and Belinda C. Fortune (Tommy); one brother-in-law, Kenny Maddox; five grandchildren, Amanda, Zachary and Cecilia Maddox and Cecil (Christian) and Chandler Cash; six great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In honor of Vera’s wishes, no services will be held at this time.
