

Born April 16, 1933, in Augusta County, she was the daughter of the late Taze and Bessie Woods Johnson and was also preceded in death by a son, Harry Lee Henson; a granddaughter, Karla Scruggs and twelve siblings. Viola was retired from Craddock & Terry Shoe Corp. and was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Viola was a loving, caring, and giving mother, sister, grandmother, and great grandmother with a pure heart of gold.
Viola is survived by three daughters, Shirley Scruggs of Forest, Rose Riffe and husband Daryl of Madison Heights, and Sherrie Terry and husband Tony of Staunton; two brothers, Hansford Johnson and wife Pearl of Waynesboro and David Johnson and wife Helen Jane of Staunton; two sisters, Irene Cromer of Carlisle, PA and Carrie Ann Johnson of Staunton; ten grandchildren, David Williams, Cheryl Scruggs, Michael Williams, Rodney Scruggs, Davina Hall, Katrina Moon, Jennifer Cunningham, Elizabeth Hanson, Hailey Terry, and Candy Spradling; seventeen great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, January 12, 2017 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on Melinda Drive, Lynchburg with Bishop Roland Gerdung officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at Whitten Monelison Chapel and other times at her residence.
