Viola G. Singleton, 98, of Madison Heights, passed away Sunday, May 10, 2020 at her residence. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Charles Calvin Singleton.

She was born July 26, 1921 in Buffalo, NY to the late John and Carmella Michael Bianchi. Viola was a wonderful supportive wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. With her support and understanding, Viola enabled her husband Charles to serve in numerous positions with the Virginia fire services for more than 60 years. Her loving outlook and the blessings of her family and friends created in Viola the calm and confident spirit to embrace the good and the struggles of a fruitful life. She was a gifted artist who painted and created handcrafted art for her family and friends. Her Italian background and her creative nature made her a phenomenal cook. Viola’s kind and gentle heart was evident in her love of animals, both wild and tame. Her renaissance charm and spiritual works embodied the greatest attributes of her generation. She enjoyed her profession as a dental assistant and volunteering in her Churches, community Meals on Wheels, and as an Auxiliarist with several Virginia volunteer fire departments. Viola’s life was a tapestry of experiences that empowered her to lift up her family and friends. Her love and wisdom, spoken and unspoken, were the threads that wove the graceful fabric of the family quilt; wrapping them in the security of her loving embrace.

She is survived by one son, Ron and wife Marcia; two daughters, Carolyn and Joyce; three grandchildren, Amy, Mark and wife Diane and Keith and wife Kellie and six great grandchildren, Nathaniel, Kody, Kaitlyn, Austin, Jacob and Blake.

A service celebrating her life will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 19, 2020 at the First Baptist Church of Monroe with Pastor Glynn Coleman and Pastor Brian Clabough officiating. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park. Funeral home staff will assist with social distancing.

Friends are welcome to pay their respects and sign the register book at Whitten Monelison Chapel both Sunday, May 17th and Monday May 18th from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The family requests memorial contributions be made to the First Baptist Church of Monroe, PO Box 247, Monroe, VA.

Vi always had a way of making you laugh. She loved her family dearly . Her and Charles were a perfect couple. She loved to share events in her life . She loved to listen and provide her opinion. She was thankful to Carolyn for caring for Charles and her. She’d always tell me of Marks adventures flying. She was very proud of him. I wish I had known both of them in their younger years but it was privilege to help care for both of them. Prayers to the family.

Vi was a wonderful person who fully supported her husband, Chief Charlie Singleton, on the many things Charlie did to make the fire service in Virginia and beyond better for all firefighters both volunteer and paid. They were a wonderful couple that I loved very much. Rest In Peace in the presence of of Lord.
