Virginia Brown Mays

Virginia was born on February 14, 1932 in Amherst County, a daughter of the late Louise Branham Johns and Scott Edward Johns. She was a member of Thomas Road Baptist Church. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her great-granddaughter, Brianna Lynnae Tyree, two brothers, and one sister.

Along with her husband Curtis, Virginia is survived by her six children: C. E. Mays, and his wife Nancy, of Concord, Patricia Driskill, and Gary Mays, and his companion Sarah Gilbert, all of Madison Heights, Curtis Donald Mays, Jr., and his wife Karen, of Anchorage, AK, Vicky M. Baldock, and her husband Mike, of Raleigh, NC, and James Mays, and his wife Kelly, of Columbus, OH; sixteen grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, ten brothers and sisters, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted on Monday, September 20, 2010 at 1:00 pm at Whitten Monelison Chapel with Rev. Charlie Harbin and Rev. David Heerspink officiating. Burial will follow at Briarwood Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 19, 2010 from 3:00 to 5:00 pm at Whitten Monelison Chapel.
