

Born April 27, 1941 in Pittsylvania County, he was the son of the late Johnny and Mary English Ferguson and was also preceded in death by four brothers, Julian, James, Albert, and Edward Ferguson. Bill was a retired Public Area Manager with Wintergreen and a U.S. Marine Reserve veteran. He was a member of Mt. Horeb U.M. Church.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Ferguson is survived by three sons, Alan Ferguson and wife Karen of Madison Heights, Dwayne Slaughter of Forest, and Shawn Slaughter and wife Tracy of Monroe; two sisters, Christine Goodbar (Jerry) and Mable Payne, all of Glade Hill; two brothers, Nelson Ferguson (Jacqueline) of Colorado and Gene Ferguson (Betty) of Rocky Mount, VA and seven grandchildren, Bailey, Jordan, Keenan, Robert, Madison, Kennedy, Carter, and Lincoln.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 28, 2016 at Whitten Monelison Chapel with the Rev. Judy Morris and the rev. Stan Ogden officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Pleasant U.M. Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:00 p.m., Thursday, October 27, 2016 at Whitten Monelison Chapel and other times at the residence.
