William "Donald" O’Donald Tomlin, Jr. age 78 of Madison Heights, passed away on Thursday, April 12, 2018.

He was born on November 26, 1939 in Monroe, son of the late William and Bertha Tomlin.

Donald was a retired machinist with Limitorque and a member of First Baptist Church of Monroe. He was Past Master of Clinton Lodge #73 A.F. & A.M. as well as being a Past District Deputy Grand Master of 21st Masonic District. He loved all sports but especially golf.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Lillie M. Tomlin and a brother, Rodney Tomlin.

He is survived by two daughters, Kimberly W. Stinnett and Tammy Johns (Doug); two grandchildren, Amanda Deaver (Derek) and Hailey Johns Jennings (Dustin); a sister, Shelia Pappas; and three brothers, Lewis Tomlin (Melodye), Tony Tomlin (Wanda), and Fred Tomlin (Gayle).

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, April 16, 2018 at Whitten Monelison Chapel with Pastor Glynn Coleman officiating. Burial will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 pm on Sunday, April 15, 2018 at the funeral home.

The family would like to offer a special thanks to the staff of Guggenheimer Centra Hospice and Duke University Medical Center for the care they gave Donald.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2050 Langhorne Rd # 201, Lynchburg, VA 24501 or the Monelison Volunteer Rescue Squad, 120 Amer Circle, Madison Heights, VA 24572.
