

Betty Kathleen “Button” Harris, 90 of Malden, went home to be with the Lord on February 17, 2015, while in residence at Eastbrook Nursing Home, in Kanawha City, where she received amazing care from the wonderful nursing staff. “Button” was born July 16, 1924, a graduate of DuPont High School, retired from Kanawha County Schools, where she was a cook at Malden Elementary for 24 years. She was a born again Christian and an active member of Spring Fork Missionary Baptist Church; she was involved in the Ladies Circle and worked in the kitchen for Vacation Bible School, until her health begin to fail. She married her high school sweetheart Ralph D. Harris in 1943. Ralph passed away after being married to “Button” for 60 years. “Button” is also preceded in death by her parents, Granville and Myrtle Bostic; sisters, Daisy Wise and Maxine Bostic; and brothers, Pete Bostic and Granville Bostic. Surviving “Button” is a host of nieces and nephews and their spouses, including her caretakers George and Tammi Bostic, of Malden; her “SWEETIE-PIE” Ashlee Rebecca Bostic, who gave Button a reason to enjoy life, after Ralph’s passing. Also surviving “Button” is her “namesake”, Betty Rose; special friend, Betty Hancock; and church buddy, Donna Kennedy. We will celebrate “Button’s” home going at 7:00 p.m., on Sunday, February 22, 2015 at Spring Fork Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Mike Long officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the church. She will be laid to rest beside of her husband and sweetheart, Ralph D. Harris, at Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes. The family request in lieu of flowers, contributions to be sent to Spring Fork Missionary Baptist Church, Ladies Circle, 320 Campbells Creek Drive, Charleston West Virginia 25306.
