

She was a lifelong resident of Campbells Creek, where she attended Fair Haven Baptist Church and was a 1953 graduate of DuPont High School, where she enjoyed cheerleading and many extracurricular activities. She married after high school and raised four children before going back to school for Nursing in 1980 at Garnet Career Center.
Billie retired from CAMC after 38 years of service where she helped pioneer the inception of the Behavioral Health Services at CAMC opening the CAMC Care Unit, Parkside Health, and the Adolescent Unit as well. She was loved by staff and patients alike during her 38-year tenure and was able to help so many with drug and alcohol addiction, recovery and mental health issues.
Billie was a living wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who loved being around family. Sunday dinners were a weekly event at her house. Family was so important to her and she just loved spending her off time at home or on one of her many shopping adventures with her sister. She loved WVU football and always rooted for the Gold and Blue. She was a huge fan of sand and sun enjoying the beach anytime she had a chance.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Orville and Della Nelson Hackney; husband, Jackie Light; son, Richard Light; and daughter, Linda Light Garten, all of Charleston; sisters, Marlene Hackney Wills, Phyllis Hackney Rhoades; and brothers, Bob, William and Teddy Hackney.
She is survived by her daughter, Lisa (Gary) Light Diveley; son, Christopher Light; sister, Angela (Moffitt) Hackney Myers, all of Campbells Creek; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Jeremy Light, Mindy Withrow Proctor, Brittany Light, Tiffany Light, Joshua Kidd, Hunter Kidd and Skylar Light, Hayden Light and Alahni McNeil, Brianna Proctor and Taylor Haas all of the Charleston area.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 5, 2024, at Stevens & Grass Funeral Home, Malden, with Pastor Corey Bradley officiating. Burial will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery, Charleston.
A visitation with family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service.
