Carol Kay Smyth

Carol was born in Murphysboro, Illinois to the late Arol and Julia Catherine Hutchison Lohrding. She was an avid boxing fan and worked in registration for USA Boxing for 25 years. She attended Covenant Presbyterian Church in Nitro.

Along with her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her stepfather, Mick Siebert; daughter, Cylina Morefield; grandson, Brandon Quihuis.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 36 years, Roy Allen Smyth; son, Ed (Thersa) Schmitt of Sparta, Ill., grandchildren, Zachary, Charles, Anthony (Loran) and William Morefield, and Dustin, Adrianne and Hope Schmitt; great grandchildren, King Steely and Kyrie Morefield; brothers-in-law, Joe (Karen) Smyth of Edwardsville, Ill and Gary (Joan) Smyth of Plainfield, Ill.

A visitation with family and friends will be held from 6 to 8 PM Wednesday September 9, 2026, at Wilson’s Funeral Home, 509 West Illinois St. Steeleville, Ill 62288.

Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 Noon Thursday September 10, 2026, at the funeral home with Pastor Josh Bailey officiating. Burial will follow at Percy Cemetery, Percy Ill. Family and friends may also visit one hour prior to the service.
