

He was born November 30, 1935, in Quincy to the late Raymond and Edna Rhodes Farren Walker. Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Janet E. Farren; daughter, Vanessa Nicosia; granddaughter, Tiffany Dawn Medford; brothers, Raymond Jr., James and Jackie Farren; sisters, Evelyn Higginbotham and Ruby Leadmon; and several nieces and nephews.
Charles is survived by sons, Roger (Cheryl) Medford of Charleston, Dale Medford of Belle, Keith (Pam) Medford of Coppers Creek, Kevin (Cindy) Medford of Pinch; grandchildren, Will Medford, Jay Hash, Megan Roe, Anthony Medford, Kim Jones, Rachel Whitlow, Nicole Danter, Brian Hunley, Adam and David Holt, Katherine Fiederer, Brennan, Ben and Bradley Medford and a host of great- and great-great-grandchildren; a special niece, Sharon Halstead; and good friend Tom Davis, who always checked in on Charles.
Charles was a Christian; a member of Walnut Gap Missionary Baptist Church and a conductor for Conrail with 40 years of service. He was also a member of the Air National Guard.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at Stevens & Grass Funeral Home, Malden, with Pastor Greg Reese officiating. Burial will follow at Montgomery Memorial Park, London.
A visitation with family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
The family would like to thank Jessica, Tina, Amy, Christina, Brook and Griffin on 5-front CPICU at CAMC Memorial Division for their care given to Charles.
