

Cleo Loraine Beattie Shamblin, 91, of Charleston, passed away on Wednesday, April 6, 2016, at Hubbard Hospice House, Charleston, after a long illness. She was born in Charleston on August 10, 1924, to the late Charles and Cecil Butler McCormick. Cleo retired from housekeeping with 17 years of service for the former Hill Top Nursing Home, Charleston. Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Samuel O. Shamblin Sr.; brother, Walter McCormick; sister, Clara Comer; and stepson, Charles Shamblin. She is survived daughter, Linda Crank of Moncks Corner, South Carolina; stepson, Samuel O. Shamblin Jr. of Charleston; stepdaughters, Ruth Coble, Linda Payne and Alice Helterbrand, all of Indiana; sisters, Wilma Paul of St. Albans, Irma Warden of North Charleston, Donna Kellerman of Ohio and Mary Mullens of South Carolina; 7 step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 9, 2016, at Stevens & Grass Funeral Home, Malden, with Marty Smith officiating. The burial will follow the service at Spring Hill Cemetery, Charleston. Family and friends will gather for a visitation one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the Funeral Home.
