Rev. Daniel Roger Kelly

Daniel was born in Charleston on November 26, 1939, to the late Pearl and Carrie Deaver Kelly. Dan was ordained as a Freewill Baptist minister and started pastoring at Anstead Freewill Baptist Church and then moved to Chesapeake Freewill Baptist Church where he continued pastoring for over 45 years. He was a retired maintenance supervisor for Shoney’s with over 30 years of service and was a US Army Veteran. He was an avid golfer, hunter and fisherman.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Barbara Ann Kelly; sister, Sandra Kelly; brothers, Edward Tom, Paul William and Robert Kelly.

Daniel is survived by his daughters, Jennifer McClanahan (Roy) of Hometown and Amy Height (Mark) of Charleston; sister, Roseanne Hunter of Charleston; grandchildren, John Sneed (Tara) of Charleston, Brandon McClanahan of Winfield, Alexxia Snyder (Cody) of St. Albans, Corey McClanahan of Huntington and Tyler Fuller (Shaina) of Charleston; and great-grandchildren, Nevaeh, Emmalee, Elijah, Addy and Weston.

Funeral Services will be 1:00 PM Thursday March 19, 2026, at Chesapeake Freewill Baptist Church with Pastor Brandon Justice officiating. Burial with Military Rites will follow at Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes.

A visitation with family and friends will be held from 6 to 8 PM on Wednesday March 18, 2026, at the Church.
