David Lee Moye

He was born in Summerlee, West Virginia, to the late Ollie and Gracie Pack Moye. David was the oldest of five brothers, Paul, Alan, Jack, and James, who have all preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Bessie; daughters, Carla and Kathy; and son, Dwight.

Surviving is his daughter, Brenda Wright and her husband, Jim, of Port Richey, Florida, and his son, Frank Vaughan and his wife, Debbie, of Quick, West Virginia. He will be remembered by grandchildren, Leesa, Lori, Shane, Frankie, Morgan,Trey and Tara, along with great-grandchildren, Sebastian, Tyler, Kyra, Jacob, Mallory, Isaac, Hunter, Mason, Breylen, and Maddox.

David was a man of deep faith. He took great joy in worship service, and fellowship with his church family. He was a longtime deacon at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church. A highlight of his Christian Walk was being baptized in the Jordan River.

As a teen, he worked as a bag boy at the old Twin Oaks Golf Course in Crab Orchard. He proudly served in the U. S. Navy and as a West Virginia State Trooper and later retired from Smith Transfer.

He enjoyed gardening, fishing, and golfing, as well as walking, porch sitting, and being witness to others. He especially loved playing his guitar while his family sang along, these large get-togethers were among his happiest times. He and Bessie had a home in Dunnellon, Florida, where summers with their grandchildren created lasting memories. His family and friends will always cherish his kindness, devotion, and strength.

The funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at Stevens & Grass Funeral Home, Malden, with Pastor Gary Hall officiating. The burial with Military Rites will follow the service in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes.

Visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service at the Funeral Home.
