Duane Edward Drennen, of East Bank, passed away Sunday, September 14, 2014, at the Hubbard Hospice House. Upon graduating from high school, Duane became an FBI Agent and then went into the United States Air Force and served in Military Intelligence. He then joined the Kanawha County Sheriff Department and retired as Captain with 32 years of service. During his time with the department, he taught at West Virginia State College. He is survived by his wife, Debbie Drennen; stepdaughter, Nora Goodwin of East Bank; stepson, Matthew Rucker of Kelly’s Creek; sisters, Precilla Mullins and Sharon Jo Smith, both of Van; brother-in-law, Curtis (Diania) Huddleston of Campbells Creek; and grandchildren, Erin and Ryan Rucker, Alison and Alexa Goodwin and Emma Landers. Duane donated his body to West Virginia University and a Memorial Service will be held 4:00 p.m. Saturday, September 20, 2014, at Stevens & Grass Funeral Home, Malden, with the Rev. Earl Cochran officiating. A time of visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
