Elizabeth Petry Cottrell

Elizabeth Petry Cottrell, 88, of Winifrede, went home to be with the Lord on February 13, 2019. Her husband of 43 years, Lloyd Petry Jr. and great-grandson, Brooks Matthew Johnson, preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her second marriage of 10 years to Clayton J. Cottrell. Elizabeth was a Christian and a lifelong member of Winifrede Community Church, where she was an active member. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her love for her family, church family and friends filled her life. All whom will miss her very much. She is survived by her daughters, Kay Brown and husband, Ed Brown and Carol Morris and husband, Kenneth Morris, all of Winifrede, and Bev Hendricks and husband, Greg Hedricks of Chesapeake; son, John Petry of Wallace, South Carolina. She was blessed with 9 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Also, surviving are sisters, Dolores Knapp and husband, Jerald Knapp of Winifrede and Nancy Barber and husband, J. Richard Barber of Charleston; and brother, William T. Calvert of Winifrede. The family would like to thank her family physician, Dr. Jagannath, for his excellent care of our mother. In addition, we would like to thank the staff at Stonerise At Home, all her caregivers and Hospice for their care in keeping her at home. The services will be Saturday, February 16, 2019, at the Winifrede Community Church with the viewing from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. Richard Justice officiating. The burial will follow the service at Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens, Glasgow.
