Freda Mae Smalley

Freda Mae Smalley, 90, of Kanawha City, passed away Thursday, May 24, 2018, at CAMC Memorial Hospital, Charleston. Freda was born on June 22, 1927 in Marmet and was raised by her grandparents who she loving referred to as Mommy and Poppy. She was a Sunday School Teacher and Youth Director at the Open Door Apostolic Church for a number of years and was a devoted Christian. She retired from the WV State Workers Compensation Department. Freda was a proficient seamstress and avid quilter. She also loved gardening and crossword puzzles. Left to cherish her memory are her son, Paul (Tonna) Smalley; four grandchildren, Alisa (Rod) Stapler, Dionne Canterbury and Nathaniel (Theresa) Smalley, all of Kanawha City and Christopher Smalley of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; seven great-grandchildren, Josh and Abby Stapler, Vivien, Annabel and Isaiah Canterbury, Petunia and Daphne Smalley all of whom she dearly loved and cherished. A celebration of life service will be held 5:00 p.m. Sunday, May 27, 2018, at Stevens & Grass Funeral Home, Malden with Minister Tim McCoy officiating. The burial will follow the service at Marmet Memorial Gardens, Marmet. A visitation with family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service on Sunday at the Funeral Home.

I am so sorry for the loss of your wonderful Mom. Even though you had her for this many years, I know it will leave a hole in your heart that can never be filled.
